MindfulPresence

Deepening Mindfulness and Mindful Communication MVMC

In this training, we deepen our meditation practice and strengthen our nervous system through new guided meditations, yin yoga, and yoga nidra. We will also explore how we can apply this conscious attention in contact. Being consciously present in daily life and in interactions with others, where our stress system is easily triggered, is quite a challenge for most of us. We will do a variety of exercises that help us gain more insight into what happens during communication. And to gain more insight into our conditioning and interpretations, and where we unnecessarily close ourselves off, protect ourselves, or defend ourselves. We learn to communicate from observation instead of interpretation, and from compassion instead of purely self-centeredness. By practicing this, we can free up patterns that allow connection to deepen and improve and we can communicate more authentically.

MVMC is a great follow-up if you want to further integrate mindfulness into your life. Essentially, here too, we practice being present with open, gentle attention to ourselves, others, and our environment.

Training Content

This training was developed by Zohair Elabd, Frits Koster, and Lidewij Severins. (more information via this link) The exercises we use are drawn from movements such as interpersonal mindfulness, nonviolent communication, Deep Listening, Green Zone communication, compassion training, and Buddhist traditions. Topics covered:

  • Calmness and gentleness meditations
  • Relaxing yin yoga and yoga nidra
  • At least one communication exercise per session, each time highlighting a different perspective
  • Exploration of our own role and unconscious assumptions in communication and how we can communicate more in line with our needs and values
  • Education on the functioning of our brain, emotion regulation, and motivational systems

Practical

The training consists of 6 weekly sessions, a comprehensive workbook, audio files, a telephone intake, and coaching during the training, and a practice day (not in silence;)

Follow-up Training

For this training, we recommend that you first take the basic mindfulness training. If you have not completed mindfulness training but do have extensive experience with meditation disciplines, a consultation can determine whether further training is suitable for you.

Scientific Research

Scientific research shows that practicing mindfulness and (self-)compassion leads to greater stress resistance, improved self-esteem, and a greater sense of safety, warmth, and acceptance. This all leads to a healthier relationship and connection with ourselves and others.

Mindfulness online practice session

Every Tuesday evening from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Donation-based.

We do a guided meditation (mindfulness and compassion) supplemented with various breathing exercises, sometimes a body scan or yoga nidra.
There is also time to discuss the obstacles we encounter during the practice and to share practical tips for applying mindfulness in daily life.
For anyone who has completed the basic mindfulness training or has other experience with meditation.
If you would like to participate or have any questions, please feel free to contact (also for the Zoom link).
